Mountain summer –
with comfort, views and time to enjoy

An active holiday – at your pace
Summer in Hemsedal suits those who enjoy being on the move, but who also know the value of slowing down. You don’t need steep peaks and high intensity every day – sometimes it’s just as good to relax in the sun or take the day at an easy pace.
Below you’ll find suggestions for:
hikes with gentle gradients and beautiful views
gravel roads well suited for biking – also with e-bikes
activities and experiences, with or without a guide
longer day trips where there’s time to linger
This is a mountain holiday for those who are fit – and who know that the best experiences are often the ones not rushed.

Mountain hikes with views
Hemsedal offers many mountain hikes ideal for those who like to savour the journey. Here you’ll find rewarding nature experiences without technical sections or steep climbs – perfect when the experience matters more than speed.
Ranastøngji is a great example. A longer hike with a steady, gentle ascent, topped off with views that truly reward the effort. Yes, you’ll cross a waterfall halfway up – but a little fun is part of the experience. This hike often takes most of the day, so bring a packed lunch and plenty of water.
Raudberg offers wide views across the surrounding mountains, and on clear days you can see all the way to Jotunheimen – without the hike feeling particularly demanding.
If you’re looking for a shorter and scenic walk in Holdeskaret, Buaklanten is an excellent choice – easy to access, well-defined and with lovely outlooks.
Another favourite is the route from Fekjanestølane towards the village centre, passing Fekjanånefossen. It’s a natural spot for a break – and for the brave, perhaps even a refreshing dip. The route can be walked as a circular hike or with transport at one end.
These are hikes that leave room to enjoy life along the way. In the Hemsedal app you’ll find many more suggestions, with detailed information to help you choose a hike that suits both your mood and the day.

Gravel roads, biking and scenic detours
For many, biking on gravel roads and easy trails is the perfect choice. In Hemsedal you’ll find gravel routes well suited for e-bikes, taking you through varied mountain landscapes, summer farms and quiet stretches of the valley.
This is not about speed or technical riding, but about:
a steady, comfortable pace
enjoyable stops along the way
views that invite an extra pause
A gravel bike or e-bike is ideal, allowing you to go a little further without sacrificing the experience.
