Week 40 – full speed ahead in the autumn mountains
In week 40, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Take the lift up, bike down, climb high, lace up your hiking boots – or simply make time for good food and cosy autumn moments.
One last chance for lift-accessed biking
Fancy feeling the wind in your hair one more time before winter? The summer lift at SkiStar Hemsedal is open from 26 September to 4 October.
Bring your bike and explore Hemsedal Rides, let the younger riders test their skills in Tottelia, or race down the mountainside on Mountain Cart.
In other words: if you want one last ride before swapping your bike for skis, this is your chance.
Climb outside – or indoors
Want to experience the autumn mountains from a slightly more vertical angle? Take on the Via Ferrata and feel the butterflies kick in as you make your way up Vesle Røggjin.
Prefer to stay a little closer to the ground – or has the autumn weather got other ideas? Hemsedal Climbing Centre is open every day from 10:00–16:00 during week 40.

The autumn holidays should taste good too
Warm up between bike rides with goulash soup, waffles and hot chocolate at Lodgen Spiseri. Or head to Tuv and Ein Smak Tå Hemsedal for delicious locally baked treats, or make your way to Ulsåk and Bear House for one of their fantastic buns – and perhaps pick up a loaf of bread for tomorrow’s breakfast while you’re there.
Saturday 3 October is an especially busy day in Hemsedal.
At the Food & Drink Festival at Skarsnuten, you can discover wine, beer, cider, cheeses and plenty of other tasty treats.
And when evening arrives? Time to turn up the volume. Oktoberfest at Stavkroa brings long tables, live music, food, DJs and that unmistakable Hemsedal atmosphere.
So yes – fresh mountain air and a good party go surprisingly well together.
Four legs, four wheels or your own two feet?
No two autumn holiday days need to look the same.
Experience the mountains on horseback with horse riding in the mountains, head out on an alpaca walk, or meet a four-legged team with a little more speed on a wheeled husky tour.
Prefer to set your own pace? Autumn is one of the best times of year for hiking. In Hemsedal, you’ll find everything from short family-friendly walks to mountain summits that reward you with both a good workout and fantastic views.

Autumn holiday in week 41? Yep – the mountains are still open!
If your autumn holiday is in week 41, you can kick it off with a full weekend of activities in Hemsedal before things slow down a notch from Monday. That means fewer people on the trails and a little more space to yourself – but certainly no shortage of things to do.You can, for example:
- take on the Via Ferrata
- go horse riding in the mountains
- join an alpaca walk
- try a wheeled husky tour
- hire a canoe or SUP
- play golf, weather and conditions permitting
- explore Tottelia and Hemsedal's bike trails on your own, as long as conditions are suitable
- head out on a hike and tick off a few final autumn summits before winter arrives
- go indoor climbing and bouldering
Hemsedal Climbing Centre is open Tuesday–Saturday from 11:00–15:00 during week 41.

Autumn might just be at its best on foot
Sometimes, you don’t really need much of a programme.
Fill your thermos, pack something tasty in your rucksack and follow the autumn colours. Choose a short family walk, seek out a waterfall or head for a summit overlooking mountains dressed in red, gold and orange.
