Carpooling is on the table
Brakar has been testing carpooling with the Nabogo app in Drammen since 2023, clocking up over 5,000 shared rides so far. Now, they're turning up the volume and rolling out the service to Hallingdal, Hemsedal, Ringerike and Hole.
– Our goal is simple: Get more people travelling together! We’re offering a flexible solution, especially where public transport options are limited, says Terje Sundfjord, CEO of Brakar.
How does it work?
Are you a driver? List your trips in the Nabogo app and make them visible to people looking for a lift.
Are you a passenger? Search for a ride just like you would check a bus timetable.
Drivers get paid!
You’ll earn 1.50 NOK per km per passenger for the first 10 km, and 1 NOK per km up to 40 km.
Passengers travel cheap!
The first 10 km are free, then just 1 NOK per km after that. And if you have a Brakar season ticket, you travel for free all the way!
What does this mean for Hemsedal?
This could be a gamechanger for seasonal workers, commuters, and weekend warriors heading for the mountains. Got a car with spare seats? Or just need a lift to the nearest hub?
– We believe seasonal workers at the ski resorts in Hallingdal and Hemsedal will especially benefit from this. It will also be a great add-on for commuters and anyone heading to activities in the evenings or at weekends, says Sundfjord.
Flexible, social and eco-friendly
Nabogo makes it easy to combine carpooling with public transport. Many use a lift to get to a transport hub, then hop on a bus – or the other way around. Often, you're sharing the ride with people from your neighbourhood or workplace, making it feel safe and social.
