Drop-In Wedding Hemsedal Summer 2025
We invite you to a drop-in wedding in Hemsedal on August 23, 2025. Perfect for couples dreaming of a simple, beautiful, and personal ceremony—without the stress that often comes with wedding planning. The ceremony will take place at Hemsedal Bygdatun, where history and mountain charm come together.
Hosted by the Church of Norway in Hemsedal
The pastor will be ready at Bygdatunet to make your moment truly special. All you need to do is register with the Hemsedal church office and apply for a marriage certificate from the Norwegian Tax Administration. Once you’ve submitted the certificate to the church office, you can sit back, relax, and look forward to your big day.
A Wedding in Historic Surroundings
Your wedding will take place at Hemsedal Bygdatun, surrounded by majestic mountains and offering stunning views of the breathtaking Hydnefossen waterfall. It’s the perfect backdrop for a summer wedding in Hemsedal.
Bygdatunet is a charming open-air museum featuring historic buildings from the 1700s, immersing you in the traditions and culture of this mountain village.

The Practical Details:
Location: Hemsedal Bygdatun, Ulsåk
Date: August 23, 2025
Time: Ceremonies between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, 20 minutes per couple
Pricing:
- Local couples, where at least one is a member of the Church of Norway: Free
- Couples where the bride or groom has grown up in Hemsedal and/or has parents living in Hemsedal, and at least one is a member of the Church of Norway: 1,500 NOK
- Non-local couples, where at least one is a member of the Church of Norway: 5,000 NOK
- Couples where one or both are not Norwegian citizens, or neither is a member of the Church of Norway: 8,000 NOK
Documents: A valid marriage certificate must be submitted to the church office.
Registration deadline: July 1, 2025
How many can join? We have a limit of 10 couples.
Arrival: Please arrive 30 minutes before your ceremony for registration.
Parking: Parking at Bygdatunet is reserved for the wedding couple. Guests can park at Kiwi, Fossheim, Ulsåk Kindergarten, or Bedehusvegen. Transportation can be arranged if needed.
What’s included?
- A ceremony led by a pastor.
- Alcohol-free bubbles to toast after the ceremony.
