Learn the skills. Build confidence. Move smart in the mountains. If you want to learn how to travel safely and efficiently on ski tours, this two-day course gives you everything you need. Together with experienced instructors, you learn by doing – out in real terrain, with real conditions.

The course covers:
Tour planning and assessing conditions
How to read avalanche forecasts
Choosing safe routes and smart mountain travel
Using transceiver, shovel and probe for companion rescue
Tips for ski technique and line choice in varied terrain
All instructors are NF-certified avalanche instructors from the Norwegian Mountaineering Forum. Maximum 6 participants per guide.

Dates: 7–8 March and 11–12 April + on request
Duration: 2 full days outdoors

Is this course suitable for beginners?
Absolutely. It’s designed for first-timers as well as those who want a solid refresher.
Do I need my own equipment?
Yes. Bring ski touring equipment, clothing for winter conditions and food/water. Transceivers can be borrowed if needed.
Where does the course take place?
In the mountains around Hemsedal, chosen daily based on weather and conditions.
Is there much classroom theory?
No. Most of the learning happens outdoors, through practical experience.
How many participants are there?
A maximum of 6 people per instructor.
What happens in bad weather?
The instructors adjust the plan and terrain choices to keep it safe and educational.
