Risk low. Reward High.
The hike in Hemsedal that offers the most in the shortest, and easiest, amount of time. It's not steep, but might be quite wet at sections.
To get to the hike you have to drive past Harahorn Hotell, continue past parts of Vavatn and find the parking which is on both sides of the road. The parking is before the crossroads to Vabuleino. From the parking you follow what looks like an animal trail east towards the edge of the mountain. Follow the path up the mountain side, you will walk trough a winterswamp and on rocks. You find Hydalshjallen after 45 minutes to an hour.
There are large grazing animals, reindeer and other animals on the mountian so please keep your dog on a leash.
You drive past Harahorn Hotell and Restaurant on your way up - this is one of the finest places to dine in Hemsedal. The opening times are varied so call them beforehand if you plan to make a visit.
Author's advice
For the bravehearted, you can slide all the way out on the edge and look straight down into Hydalen.
Turn-by-turn directions
