It’s time to bring
the sheep home

Over the next few weeks, the annual autumn round-up will take place across Hemsedal. This means you may meet sheep, cattle, farmers and animals on the move while hiking or driving in the area.
Give the animals plenty of space
If you meet sheep or cattle while out hiking, keep a good distance and let them move at their own pace. Avoid walking through a herd or flock if you can go around – a little extra space makes things safer and easier for both people and animals.
Keep your dog on a lead
In Hemsedal, dogs must be kept on a lead from 1 April to 31 October to protect grazing livestock. Keep your dog under control and give both sheep and cattle plenty of space.
So enjoy the autumn colours, crisp mountain air and days on the trails – but remember that we share the mountains with four-legged locals still out grazing.
Thanks for showing consideration – and enjoy your autumn adventures in Hemsedal!
