Bike route on Kongevegen

A long and beautiful route on a historic path. This route takes you along the king's road from Bjøberg, through Lio and further down to Tuv. The route is mainly planned to be cycled from Bjøberg down to Tuv and back, but this can be made easier by only cycling down to Tuv. The road down from Bjøberg is continuously downhill, and therefore the road back from Tuv is continuously uphill, so it may be wise to have an e-bike and be prepared for a demanding return trip.

Along the way you will find 4 information boards about history, the Stone Age, nature and more. Most of the route takes place on gravel roads (large parts of this can be cycled with a touring bike and trailer), but parts of the road are rougher tractor roads/wide trails. If you do not use an e-bike, or want a shorter/easier route, the route can advantageously start at Bjøberg and the bikes parked and locked at Tuv, where the bus goes back to the car at Bjøberg (see vy.no for bus departures).

Author's advice

Catch the various information boards along the way to read about nature, ancient Stone Age buildings and more!

Turn-by-turn directions

The route starts either at Bjøberg where you follow along Rv52 on the king's road down to Tuv and back

Alternatively, the route can start at Tuv, where you cycle up along Rv52 on the king's road until you reach Bjøberg, then follow the same route back to Tuv.

Equipment

A bike trailer may be used on this route, but be aware that obstacles may occur

Remember helmet :)

Safety information

It is strongly recommended to wear a bike helmet, as well as a water bottle on a warm day :)

Directions

You can also choose to cycle from Bjøberg down to Tuv, lock the bikes at Tuv and take the bus back up to Bjøberg (see vy.no for bus times).

Parking
