Bruøyne outdoor area – right in the heart of Hemsedal
Just a short stroll from the village centre, you’ll find Bruøyne – a peaceful, scenic and easily accessible outdoor area where both locals and visitors can enjoy nature right by the river. Wander along the new boardwalks, cross the small bridges and find your own quiet spot among smooth rocks and pine trees
Since 2014, Hemsedal Municipality has been working to make the local river environment more accessible, and today Bruøyne has become a true breathing space in the middle of the village. The forest has been opened up, new paths and platforms make it easy to explore – and out on Bruøyne itself you’ll find a cosy picnic area with benches and a fire pit (please note that open fires are only allowed from 15 September to 15 April).
Bruøyne is also home to Høyt & Lavt Hemsedal, the popular climbing park where both young and old can challenge themselves among the treetops. Feel the adrenaline rush, laugh out loud – and then slow down again with a coffee by the river.
In winter, the area transforms into something truly magical. Soft winter lights wind their way along parts of the trail, creating a warm and peaceful atmosphere – perfect for a calm evening walk or a little break after skiing.
Bring your coffee, your friends, your kids – or just yourself – and enjoy the sound of the river and the fresh mountain air.
