The local dialect is alive and kicking – and now it finally has its own textbook. This evening, editor Aud Søyland and Olav Randen will guide us into the history, structure and soul of the Hallingdal way of speaking.
New Textbook on the Hemsedal Dialect and Hallingmål
Tuesday 2 December | 18:00–20:00 | Hemsedal Library
Organised by: The Hallingdal Language Associations
There will be Halling songs performed by pupils from the local culture school, reflections on language and identity from dialect camp participants Solveig and Sunniva, plus a good dose of entertainment, coffee and cake – just as it should be.
The book is suited for bilingual young people, anyone keen to understand the system behind the dialect, people who speak Halling and want to sharpen their awareness, and cabin owners curious about the language of the valley.
You can buy the book on site – a brilliant Christmas gift for language lovers and Hallingdal fans alike. Members of the language association get a reduced price, and you can sign up on the spot.
A warm welcome to an inspiring and genuinely local evening!
