When Ryland Grace wakes up alone on a spaceship, light-years from home, he remembers nothing. Who is he? How did he get there? And why is he completely alone?

As his memory slowly returns, he begins to uncover the truth. He is a science teacher – and he has been sent on a mission that could determine the survival of humanity. A mysterious substance is causing the sun to die, and unless he finds a solution, all life on Earth will vanish.

Armed with scientific knowledge, unconventional ideas and a fair amount of courage, he must solve one of the greatest mysteries of the universe. But in the middle of the impossible, something unexpected happens: a friendship that may change everything.

Based on the novel by Andy Weir, author of The Martian, the film delivers gripping action, emotional depth and thought-provoking sci-fi. Ryan Gosling leads the cast, alongside Sandra Hüller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung and Milana Vayntrub. Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

Rated 12 years. Recommended for teenagers and adults who enjoy space adventures with big questions and even bigger consequences.
