Totten - Topp20 Hemsedal
An easy hike that gets you high up in the mountains. You can take the chairlift up, or walk, and you will be rewarded with great views of Hemsedal, mountains and lakes.
How to get there
Take the chair lift at Hemsedal Ski resort. From the top of the lift follow the marked path to the peak. You can also walk the skipist from the base of the chair lift or walk up the road “Holdeskarveien” to the top of the chair lift Hollvin Ekspress.
Alternative route: start from Hemsedal town centre and walk up Sollaust/Fetenstien or Sentrumsløypa ski track.
Plenty of parking all around the ski resort and in the centre.
Remember to keep your dog leashed, and bring plenty of water and sun lotion on sunny days!
Do it as a roundtrip from Hemsedal centre. There are many trails that take you down to the centre, but the best is to follow the ski slope.
This is the easiest hike to get high up in the mountains as you can "cheat start" by taking the chairlift up. On the top, you can see the entire Hemsedal valley, surrounding mountains and lakes.
At the chairlift top, there is a cafe called Fjellkafeen which is where you start your hike. You follow well-marked trails both on and off the ski track.
When the chairlift is running, Fjellkafeen cafe is open for guests which means you don't have to worry about bringing your own lunch or hot drink.
If the chairlift is closed you have some alternative routes that will take a bit longer but it's still worth it!
- Start at the bottom of the ski resort and hike up along the ski slope Turisten, nr 11, to Fjellkafeen and there you can join in on the original trail.
- You can also follow Holdeskarveien from SkiStar Alpin Lodge towards Skigaarden and then switch to ski slope nr 11.
- You can start in Hemsedal centre and walk the ski slope sentrumsløypa up.
