How to get there

Starting at the Tourist office, follow the road Trøimsvegen behind the Tourist office. Follow the road along the river passing the farm. Take left at the barn and follow the river until you reach a bridge, there cross the bridge and take right on Kyrkjebønvegen and follow up until you see the sign for Steget/Kyrkjebønønse. Take right and follow the road up to the gravel pit.

Alternative is to drive up along Kyrkjebønvegen to the gravel pit and park there.

On the upper side of the gravel pit there is a marked tractor road and the start of the trail up to Kyrkjebønøse.

Parking

In Hemsedal center or at the gravel pit.

Safety

Bring snacks and something to drink.

Tip

On the way up or down, take your time and go a detour towards the river Trøimsåne and have a look at the many waterfalls along the valley.

Description

This hike starts in Hemsedal centre and takes you all the way up to over 1600 meters above sea level. Follow the blue marks.

The first section of the hike leisurely follows an old cattle trail to another Topp20 called Steget. Keep your eyes out for waterfalls along the trail going up. You keep right and follow a forest path up the mountain. This part is quite steep but when you get above the tree line the view is amazing.  At this clearing, there are plenty of places to take a lunch break or leave your bags to lighten the weight for the last part of the hike. The first one you will see quite clearly from the tree line, and you climb up on rocks. The second one is hidden behind the first one and you have to walk on the ridge of the mountain to reach it.  The first top is at 1602 meters above sea level and the other top is at 1671 meters above sea level.

At the top, you'll get beautiful views over Hemsedal and the mountain range to the North.
