Avalanche Course for Youth– 19–20 February

Want to learn how to stay safe in the winter mountains? This two-day avalanche course gives young skiers and riders a practical introduction to avalanche safety, route choice and essential mountain skills.

Avalanche Course for Youth (14–18 years) – 19–20 February
During the winter holidays, Hemsedal Mountain Guides run an avalanche course for youth in Hemsedal. The course takes place over two days and combines theory, hands-on training and time in the mountains.
Day one focuses on avalanche awareness and safety basics: understanding weather and snow conditions, recognising avalanche terrain, using Varsom forecasts and making safer decisions. On day two, the group heads into the mountains to practise tour planning, route selection and the use of avalanche rescue equipment.
The course is ideal for young skiers and riders who are curious about ski touring and freeriding, and who want to build confidence and good habits in the winter mountains. Small group sizes ensure personal guidance and a safe learning environment.
