History Café & Book Launch: Landbruk og låvar i Hemsedal
The book is finally here! Hemsedal Historical Society invites you to a History Café and the launch of the new book Landbruk og låvar i Hemsedal at Kultursalen on 5 November.
The evening will include a presentation and sale of the new book, as well as stories about how farming in Hemsedal has developed over the past 100 years. Tove Eggen Lien, Oddvar Grøthe, Ingebjørg Kristiansen and Steinar Taubøll will share stories and local knowledge from the valley.
There will also be live music by Joakim Solbakken, a photo exhibition in the foyer, a quiz, coffee and cake.
About the book
Landbruk og låvar i Hemsedal – “Farming and Barns in Hemsedal” – tells the story of farming in the valley and how its development has influenced local building traditions.
Above all, however, this is a photographic book documenting Hemsedal's farms and barns as they look today. With 260 A4 pages and more than 600 photographs, it captures an important part of Hemsedal's rural heritage for future generations.
The book costs NOK 549 and can be pre-ordered by emailing post@hemsedalhistorielag.no.
It will also be possible to order selected photographs from the book as prints in several sizes. Examples will be on display during the event.
